The Seinäjoki City Orchestra was founded as an association in 1936. The full-time crew of the city orchestra includes a string quintet and a wind quintet, so the focus of the orchestra’s activities is chamber music. The Seinäjoki City Orchestra also regularly performs symphony music, in which case the regular orchestra is supplemented with other professional musicians.
The orchestra has appeared in opera performances of the Seinäjoki City Theatre and Opera Society, as well as at the Ilmajoki Music Festival. The orchestra is also a familiar guest at the Korsholm Music Festival. The City Orchestra also performs annually at the Tango Festival in Seinäjoki. Major works of church music are performed together with local choirs. There is a close and regular partnership with the Vaasa City Orchestra, and together they give 2–3 concerts a year.WEBSITE
