A museum for Peräseinäjoki was talked about as early as the 1930s. The plans took a long time to come to fruition, but the museum was finally opened some 50 years later. Located about 30 kilometres from Seinäjoki, Riihimuseo offers an overview of the history of Peräseinäjoki until modern times.
The museum has a collection of objects related to grain processing, as well as other historical agricultural machines and tools. The museum comprises the old drying barn or riihi, the old community granary of the Peräseinäjoki parish, and two smaller granaries. The large granary houses a collection of everyday historical objects that featured in the lives of Peräseinäjoki residents.
