The Kriikku mill museum takes visitors on a journey through the cultural history of the Kyrönjoki river region. The mill is located on the shores of the protected river in the centre of Ylistaro. It was built in the late 1870s and is still owned by the Kriikku family. The handsome, three-storey water mill has four sets of stones and grain machines from different periods. The mill processed mostly rye and barley for bread flour and grits for Ylistaro farmers as well as those of neighbouring areas.
Today, the museum can be hired for meetings and functions, and delicious home-style catering is also available. A miller’s demonstration can be organised by request. In the summer season, visitors have access to the idyllic café by the rapids, and the sauna and bath barrel can be booked for smaller parties.
