What is autumn like on an island with no return? The emotionally stirring Seili musical follows the complex paths of the main character Sofia’s life. The story begins in 1910, as Sofia tries to take control of her own destiny. Through a series of events, she falls in love, but finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite the bleakness of Seili Island, community and small joys of daily life bring light. Please note, the musical is not suitable for young children. There’s more happening at Seinäjoki City Theatre this autumn than just amazing performances. Another exciting event at the City Theatre is an afternoon tea held during the recording of a live podcast. Starting this fall, Elissa Hall will host a cozy tea session. Theater curator Jelena Jokelin will discuss current topics with a variety of guest speakers. The audience is also encouraged to participate by asking the guest questions related to the evening’s theme. The afternoon tea events are scheduled for Friday, October 25th and November 22nd at 5 PM. The play has brought joy to viewers both abroad and in Finland. Laughter can also be found in Teatteri Hysteria’s Improaalto (Impro Wave).

Perhoset is a comedy written by Anna Brotkin that revolves around the overachieving Siiri and her father, Petri. In a summer night at the Seinäjoki Tango Market, the daughter, who is searching for adulthood, reunites with her father, who is desperately avoiding it. Both are thriving, but in different ways—and inevitably heading for a crash. During one summer weekend, things spiral out of control.
