Provinssi 29.6.-1.7.2023

Provinssi (until 2014 known as Provinssirock) is one of Finland’s largest rock festivals and the first event in the summer festival calendar. The three-day festival is organised in the last week of June at Törnävänsaari in Seinäjoki.

The festival is organised by SELMU ry. The first Provinssirock was held in 1979. The 30th Provinssirock was held in 2008 and saw a record number of visitors. All of the tickets sold out in advance (25,000 tickets for each day). There were more than 80,000 visitors during the whole weekend. In 2015, the name of the festival was changed to Provinssi, and it became a four-day event. There were 79,000 visitors, nearly a record number.

In 2016, the festival had its highest number of visitors in a single day: 31,000 on Saturday 2 July and a total of 71,000 revellers over the whole weekend. “The revival of Provinssi which started the previous year culminated on that Saturday with tickets sold out and a record number of visitors. The day’s visitor numbers exceeded our wildest dreams. We are back at the top on the Finnish festival scene”, says festival director Sami Rumpunen.

The event is held at Törnävänsaari, approximately 3 kilometres from the centre of Seinäjoki.
