International travel agents have voted this travel package into the TOP 10 in the Finnish cultural travel programmes series.
World-renowned architect Alvar Aalto, who was born in Kuortane in Southern Ostrobothnia, has left his mark in his birth region in the form of numerous buildings designed by him. One of Aalto’s most significant works is the Aalto Centre, functioning as Seinäjoki’s administrative and cultural centre, which is made up of six buildings and speaks in a clean, timeless form language. In addition to the Aalto Centre, we recommend that you see the architecturally spectacular Apila library.
The group will also visit the Amfora Shop of artist Päivi Rintaniemi, who has received numerous honours (among others, the 58o Premio Faenza top prize in 2013), where we will hear about the artist’s path and work. The day’s programme also includes a visit to Kaarakka House, where we will learn about the handicraft traditions of Southern Ostrobothnia.
The day’s programme includes site visits, guided tour, coffee with savoury snack and lunch.
